Readout of Vice President Biden's Call With Iraqi Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani

The Vice President spoke today with the President of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani. The Vice President thanked President Barzani for his leadership and Kurdish commitment in the fight against ISIL. The Vice President conveyed continued U.S. support for a unified, federal, and democratic Iraq, and encouraged close cooperation between the Government of Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government. The leaders underscored the urgency of sustained progress in the fight against ISIL, Iraq's economic recovery, humanitarian assistance for displaced Iraqis, and cooperation to liberate Mosul.
