Statement on President Donald J. Trump's Intention to Designate Acting Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency

Today, the President announced that he intends to designate Comptroller of the Currency Joseph Otting as Acting Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA). Current FHFA Director Melvin Watt notified the White House that he will depart at the end of his term on January 6, 2019. Mr. Otting will serve as Acting Director upon Director Watt's departure until a permanent Director is confirmed, while concurrently carrying out his duties as Comptroller of the Currency.
