SIOUX CITY – U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders issued the following statement Tuesday after a volunteer for Dr. Ben Carson's presidential campaign died of injuries in an accident on an icy Interstate in western Iowa:
"Young volunteers like Braden Joplin are the heart and soul of the democratic process. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family."
