On Wednesday, October 16, 2002, the President signed into law:
H.R. 3214, which changes the name, composition of the governing body, and headquarters location of the AMVETS (American Veterans of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam) organization; and
H.R. 3838, which permits veterans who received special pay for service subject to hostile fire or imminent danger to be eligible to join the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and recognizes that a purpose of the VFW is charitable work.
