Statement by the Press Secretary: Georgian President Shevardnadze to Visit Washington

President Bush will welcome President Eduard Shevardnadze of Georgia to Washington for a working visit on October 5. This visit reflects the partnership between the United States and Georgia, as both countries strive to strengthen Georgia's sovereignty and free market, democratic transformation; to advance Georgia's integration into the global economy; and to foster stability throughout the Caucasus region.
