Statement by the Press Secretary on House Resolutions

May 28, 2004

On Friday, May 28, 2004 the President signed into law:

H.R. 408, which authorizes the Secretary of the Interior to acquire an approximately 104-acre parcel of land which would be included within the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in Michigan;

H.R. 708, which requires the Secretary of Agriculture to convey approximately 120 acres of land within the Mendocino National Forest to the owner of the Faraway Ranch in Lake County, California;

H.R. 856, which authorizes the Secretary of the Interior to extend a repayment contract with the Tom Green County Water Control Improvement District Number 1 in San Angelo, Texas;

H.R. 923, the "Premier Certified Lenders Program Improvement Act of 2004," which establishes a pilot program under which certain Premier Certified Lenders in the Small Business Administration's Section 504 Loan Program may elect to be subject to alternative loan loss reserve requirements;

H.R. 1598, the "Irvine Basin Surface and Groundwater Improvement Act of 2004," which authorizes the Department of the Interior to participate in the design, planning, and construction of three water projects within the San Diego Creek Watershed in California; and

H.R. 3104, which requires the President to establish separate campaign medals specifically to recognize service by members of the uniformed services in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
