Statement by the Press Secretary on the Meeting of President Obama and the UAE Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed
President Obama met today with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces, and discussed ways to deepen the strong political, security and economic relationship between the United States and the United Arab Emirates, bolster regional security, and advance Israeli-Arab peace efforts. The President expressed his appreciation for the UAE’s security, humanitarian and financial contributions to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Lebanon, the Palestinian Authority, and other common efforts. He also congratulated the Crown Prince on the UAE’s leadership on renewable energy and on being chosen to host the new International Renewable Energy Agency. The President and Crown Prince discussed civil nuclear cooperation, including the Administration’s support for the U.S.-UAE Agreement for Peaceful Nuclear Cooperation ("123 Agreement.")
