VP Pool Report #2 Both of the vice president's events in Las Vegas were open press. Her office is expecting transcripts to be sent soon. Her first event was a moderated conversation about guns with Angela Ferrell-Zabala, Executive Director of Moms Demand Action and actress Xochitl Gomez. The vice president spoke at length about the need to do more to combat gun violence, including taking a moment as she often does at such events to ask students to raise their hands if they had ever been part of active shooter drills. Dozens raised their hands. She urged older people in the room to take note. Speakers at the first event: Her second event was at a campaign office, where she followed a list of local officials, including Rep. Dina Titus and Attorney General Aaron Ford. She spoke mostly about abortion rights and criticizing bans like the one upheld last week in Arizona. Repeating a phrase that she used last week in Tucson, she referred to "Trump abortion bans." On Background From The Biden-Harris Campaign: On Monday afternoon, Vice President Harris appeared at a campaign event in Las Vegas, NV on reproductive freedom. Arizona State Senator Eva Burch spoke at the event to share what is happening on the ground in her home state, where the state Supreme Court recently upheld an abortion ban from the 1800s. The event also featured remarks by Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford, Rep. Dina Titus and Nevada Democratic Party Chair Daniele Monroe-Moreno. At the event, campaign organizers helped collect signatures for the ballot measure that would enshrine reproductive freedom in Nevada's state Constitution. The vice president was wheels up back to Los Angeles at 3:40. Also: |
