VP Travel Pool Report #1 - Checking in

Good evening!! I will be your print pooler for this historic night.

The pool has been swept and loaded into the press vans at 8:10. We are awaiting departure to the United Center.

Your pooler had not laid eyes on VP Harris yet.

VP Pool Report #2 - Rolling

The motorcade is rolling to the United Center at 8:37.

Your pooler has not laid eyes on VP this evening.

VP Pool Report #3 — Arrival at United Center

The motorcade arrived at the United Center at 8:48.

The ride here was the fastest I've ever seen a motorcade move.

Ride was uneventful with lots of onlookers largely recording it. Very positive crowd. No protestors of any kind.

No eyes on VP.

VP Pool Report #4-- Remarks Began at 9:33

VP Harris began speaking to accept the Democratic Party nomination for president at 9:33.

She walked on stage at 9:30 to Thunderous applause and a standing ovation. Chants of "Yes You Can!" Erupted before her remarks.

Her remarks are going to be broadcast everywhere. So you are on your own for qoutes. I'll send any color that is going to be useful.

Pool arrived at OTR, which is an after convention party. It's at the Queenies Club inside the United Center.

VP Pool Report #10 — VP Harris remarks begin

VP Harris entered the room with the Second Gentlemen at 10:52. She began speaking at 10:53.

She is speaking to supporters, some staff and some donors were spotted.

VP Harris began her remarks acknowledging that today is her 10 year-wedding anniversary.

VP Pool Report #11 — VP Remarks at gathering

"So thank you for sharing this important day with us, but truly, thank you all so very much. I know who's in this room. I know what you do every day and what you have done to support everything that we care about, everything that we believe is possible. We are truly invested in the future of our country. Our fight is truly and deeply worn out. Love country, and I know we're gonna get this done. We're gonna win!"

"But only if we understand you can party tonight and you need to work for the next 75 days or so.

"its been a wonderful convention, and so much of it is about everyone who is here who dedicates so much of your time and love to our country. We're gonna get this done!"

Doug Emhoff's remarks

"It is hard to imagine, like, literally 10 years ago right now, we had just taken our vows, gotten married, and we're probably likely no that's just literally, like probably having our first dance. And then to think about, literally, 10 years later, to the night she gave one of, if not the greatest speeches.

"But like she said, we haven't won anything yet, right? So it's just 70 odd days left. Let's I think tonight we can't have some fun. And unlike my great friend, Governor Walz, he's gonna he said he sleep when he's dead. That's extreme. I want to see her be president, so I'm gonna sleep on November 6, celebrating you becoming our next president.

So join me in toasting my wife, the love of the love of my life, on our 10th anniversary. But we're not looking back. We're not going back. We're looking into the future with you as our next president. Kamala Harris, we love you."

Here are remarks from VP Harris/Gov Walz/Second Gentleman. Combined they spoke for roughly 4 minutes.

Nancy Pelosi was spotted in the crowd at the first party.

At the end of the remarks the crowd broke into "Happy Anniversary" to the tune of "Happy Birthday."

We wanted to come by to thank everyone here, so much. And you know, know what we're fighting for: we love, love, love, our country. We believe in everything that is foundational to who we are."

"we are the underdogs in this race"

She said the campaign has been "grueling" and "uplifting." She said the next days are going to be "rough and tough."

"Tonight we're partying, tomorrow lets get back to work. Please wish me and my husband a happy anniversary."

Tim Walz

Said he lost his voice and thanked the convention staff saying the "country saw the best of America."

The Second Gentleman's remarks were almost parallel to his remarks at the first party talking about their first dance 10 years ago.
