Vice Presidential Pool Reports of August 23, 2024

Good morning from a beautiful, sunny Chicago.

The VP's motorcade is rolling from the RON as of 1.45pm, heading for Soldier Field. The VP's SUV drove past the pool's van but pool did not lay eyes on the VP. A few cheers could be heard from spectators waiting outside the RON as the motorcade passed.

The VP's motorcade arrived at Soldier Field carpark at 1.55pm after an uneventful drive past Chicago's waterfront skatepark.

Several dozen supporters — some wearing white 'Harris for President' t-shirts — waiting behind barriers and cheered loudly when they saw the VP, in a purple suit, and SGOTUS, in a blue jacket, polo shirt and slacks and white sneakers, walked towards them.

They waved and then worked the rope line from opposite ends while people took photos and selfies with the VP. The VP spoke to supporters and shook hands, spending around 10 minutes to do the whole line. At one point supporters chanted 'Yes she can' and 'when we fight, we win'.

SGOTUS briefly came over to the pool for an OTR that lasted about a minute.

The motorcade then drove VP and SG the couple of hundred yards to waiting Ospreys. They waved to the pool and boarded the aircraft at 2.10pm. We're lifting shortly for O'Hare.

The VP's Osprey was wheels down at 2.24pm. VP and SG walked over to AF2 holding hands.

Asked 'what's next', VP said 'we're going to walk up those stairs.'

Asked what's after that: 'Win. We're gonna win'

She didn't respond to a question about RFK Jr. They climbed the steps and waved before boarding at 2.30pm

VP Harris came back to the press cabin for an OTR of around four minutes.

We're set to be moving shortly.

Air Force Two was wheels down at sunny Joint Base Andrews at 5.10pm after a mostly smooth flight from Chicago, marking the end of the VP's trip to the Democratic National Convention. A smattering of applause could be heard from further towards the front of the plane just after touchdown.

VP Harris's Chief of Staff Lorraine Voles came back to the press cabin for a brief OTR shortly before landing.

VP and the Second Gentleman deplaned at 5.19pm, waved to the pool and then headed for Marine Two. M2 lifted at 5.26pm.

The Vice President and Second Gentleman arrived at the VP's residence at 5.37pm, and a lid has been called, the VP's office said.
