VP Supplemental Pool-1/1- Campaign event appearance/remarks Hello, The VP attended and gave remarks at a campaign event today at the St. Regis Hotel in Washington, D.C. The Biden-Harris campaign said the reception was hosted by the Solar Energy Industries Association. The VP addressed a small group (of about 30 by my count), in a small, ground-level conference room in the hotel. The VP was introduced at 11:20 a.m. by Sheldon Kimber, the CEO of Intersect Power. He introduced her as "a tireless advocate for a sustainable, prosperous and equitable future for every American," and said her "vision extends beyond the immediate horizon, encompassing both the environmental and economic imperatives that will shape our nation's destiny." The VP started her remarks at 11:20 a.m, but before delving into the issue at hand, she said she wanted to first address the case of Kate Cox, the pregnant mother who had to leave Texas in order to get an abortion. She went on to address the association's members. She said they were working together "to build the clean energy economy and future, which will be about the most important and fundamental priorities for us as a species, which is the need to have clean water and clean air, and to protect this beautiful planet on which we live." She discussed the Inflation Reduction Act, and its projects, as an example of the administration's commitment to their work. She said they needed to be "clear eyed about the challenges in this upcoming election cycle." The VP finished her remarks at 11:32 and moved to a Q&A portion, which your pooler could not observe. I waited for additional background to send the report; please reach out with any questions. |
