Travel pool #1 VP trip to Munich

Vice President Kamala Harris came to the traveling press to make a statement about gun violence, she said its supposed to be a day of celebration in reference to the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl, instead we saw shooting in Kansas today, she offered her condolences adding there are two many incidents of gun violence.

She didn't take questions , she boarded AF2 at 8:25 pm .

Senior staff including National Security Advisor, Phil Gordon, Deputy National Security Advisor Rebecca Lissner , her spokesperson Kirstin Allen were also accompanying her on the trip .

White House outlined her visit to Munich as follows :

Vice President Kamala Harris will travel to Munich, Germany to represent the United States at the 2024 Munich Security Conference. This is her third trip to the Munich Security Conference, having represented the United States there in February 2022 and February 2023. Throughout her engagements, the Vice President will underscore the importance of sustaining U.S. leadership, strengthening our alliances and partnerships, standing up for democratic values, and defending international rules and norms.

Travel Pool #2 VP trip to Munich

Here is a rough transcript of the statement the VP made to the traveling pool about the shooting that took place during the Chiefs parade in Kansas City:

" It's supposed to be a day of celebration , where community and people come together and have a day of joy, instead it's another day were America experienced gun violence .

Gun violence is number one cause of death in America , it's not some form of illness or car accidents , it's gun violence.

It doesn't have to be this way; Doug and I offer condolences to the families who lost loved ones ".

I couldn't hear some other sentences due to the engine noise, but it seems she called on congress to have the courage to do more to restrain gun violence.

On the plane , the VP came back to the press cabin she chatted with us for few minutes , conversation was off the record, she wished us a Happy Valentines Day and handed over a heart shaped cookie to each member of the traveling press and staff.

AF2 touched down in Munich airport at 10:51 am .
