VP Supplemental Pool Report #1 — Event Background

Good morning from the Walter E Washington Convention Centre, where the Nato leaders' summit will take place in just under two months. Today your print pooler is here for the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies Legislative Leadership Summit, where Vice President Harris will be speaking in roughly half an hour.

Your pooler will flag anything of note but will most likely be sticking to the basics because VPOTUS' event is set to be livestreamed on the White House's YouTube channel and on the White House website.

Today, Vice President Harris will participate in a moderated conversation at the annual Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) Legislative Leadership Summit at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. The conversation will be moderated by actor and comedian Jimmy O. Yang. The 11:00 AM ET conversation will be livestreamed at www.whitehouse.gov.

During the conversation, the Vice President will speak to the Biden-Harris Administration's latest actions to address some of the most critical issues facing the AANHPI community, including access to reproductive health care and gun violence prevention.

The Vice President's participation at APAICS comes days after hosting more than 500 community leaders and small business owners from across the country at her residence to celebrate AANHPI Heritage Month. The theme of the reception, which took place on May 9th, was a traditional "Night Market" where 20 vendors showcased their small businesses, which included restaurants and artisan shops.

Today, the Vice President will also deliver remarks at the White House reception celebrating AANHPI Heritage Month.

VP Supplemental Pool Report #2 — Conversation Begins`

Vice President Harris took the stage at 1102 to "Hail, Columbia!" after introductory remarks from Alisha Chen, an APAICS fellow in the Vice President's office.

Her conversation with moderator Jimmy O Yang is being livestreamed on the White House website and the White House's YouTube channel.

VP Pool Report #3 — "kick that f**king door down"

Roughly 12 minutes into the programme, VP Harris drew applause while offering advice to young AA/NH/PI people, telling them: "We have to know that sometimes people will open the door for you and leave it open. Sometimes they won't, and then you need to kick that fucking door down".
