VP Pool Report 1

Hello,

I am your print pooler today for VP Harris' attendance at a Biden Victory Fund event in Rancho Santa Fe, San Diego, hosted by Jamie Carr, an active Democratic fundraiser. Pool arrived at the residence at 2 p.m.

The VP started giving remarks at 3:47 p.m. in an intimate room at the host's residence. A group of about 50 guests stood listening to the remarks, in which Harris began by noting her connection to California as the state's former attorney general. Harris also recognized the attendance of Congress member Sarah Jacobs and the San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria.

"You're a great role model of what a mayor can and should be," she said of Gloria.

The VP proceeded to speak for 11 minutes, sharing a message of positivity and hope about the outcome of the November presidential election and pointing to specific wins of the Biden administration, including creating "thousands upon thousands" of jobs and building back America's infrastructure.

"We will be just fine and we're gonna win. Let's start with that," she said to resounding applause from the audience. "I believe momentum is so clearly on our side."

The VP noted that she has taken more than 50 trips around the country so far this year, including a recent trip to Colorado where she spoke at a graduation ceremony at the U.S. Air Force Academy. "In my travels all over our country… people are showing up and they're ready to fight for what we know and believe to be the promise of who we are. And so let's keep that in mind," the VP said.

She went on to mention the conversations she's had with labor leaders about the work they have been able to do "because of the accomplishments of our administration," as well as noted the administration's investment in science and technology and manufacturing and work to confront the climate crisis.

"By my estimate, we are dropping at least a trillion dollars over the next 10 years to deal with adaptation and resilience around extreme climate occurrences," the VP said.

The VP didn't mention Donald Trump by name but referred to him near the end of her remarks as "an individual who thrives in chaos and division and fear," who "applauds dictators" and has "threatened to weaponize the Department of Justice against his political enemies."

Harris specifically pointed to how Trump has threatened the Affordable Care Act, contrasting it to the Biden administration's work on healthcare and support of the act.

Following her remarks, the VP left the event and headed for Los Angeles.
