VP Supplemental Pool #1: At Arlington National Cemetery

Good morning,

Scripps News is your pool with Vice President Harris this morning as she joins President Biden at Arlington National Cemetery for Veterans Day. Our understanding is that the VP's movements will mirror the president's until we leave Arlington, after which we'll break off when POTUS heads to JBA.

We were rolling from the White House at 10:41am as part of the president's motorcade. We did not see the VP get into her vehicle. The motorcade arrived at the cemetery gates at 10:49am and to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at 10:54. Press are staging now to capture the wreath laying ceremony and president's remarks.

VP Supplemental Pool #2: wreath ceremony

Vice President Harris walked up with President Biden and VA Secretary McDonough at 11:04am, a few minutes after the First Lady and Second Gentleman emerged. The VP is wearing a black suit and chocolate brown blouse.

The officials stood with their hands over their chests as the band played the National Anthem. The VP then stood and watched solemnly as President Biden laid the wreath at 11:08. At 11:10, the VP, President and VA Secretary walked up the steps into the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Pool is now moving to the Memorial Amphitheater for the president's remarks.

VP Supplemental Pool #3: amphitheater program

VP Harris was situated in between the First Lady and Second Gentleman to the left of the stage during the program in the amphitheater. She stood during the presentation of the colors ceremony, prayer and Pledge of Allegiance. She remained seated for the duration of the program, save for when President Biden began his remarks and after he concluded.

At 11:36, the VP and Second Gentleman were recognized by Ms. Karen Durham-Aguilera, Executive Director of the Army National Military Cemeteries and the Office of Army Cemeteries, who was naming notable attendees. VP Harris received significant applause from those in the audience, smiling and placing her hand on her chest in an apparent show of gratitude.

At 12:04pm, after the president concluded his remarks, pool was moved back to vans where we are now holding. We did not have eyes on the VP getting into her vehicle.

Lastly, adding that, per the WH, the other official who joined POTUS, VP and Secretary McDonough for the wreath laying was Major General Trever Bredenkamp, Commanding General of the Joint Task Force-National Capital Region and the U.S. Military District of Washington

VP Supplemental Pool #4: gravesite stop

At 12:22pm, the pool very briefly had eyes on VP Harris and Second Gentleman Emhoff leaving the amphitheater and walking to their vehicle. We were quite far away and not in a position to shout questions.

At 12:26, the VP's motorcade was rolling from the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. We passed many onlookers as we made our way through the cemetery grounds.

At 12:45pm, the motorcade stopped near cemetery section 13. Pool was held at a distance as it appeared the VP was kneeling at a gravesite. Your pooler has asked for info about which gravestone the VP stopped at and will update if I receive more details.

At 12:50, the pool was moved back to vans. The VP remained at the gravesite for a few more moments and then returned to her vehicle out of sight from pool.

Motorcade was rolling again at 12:55pm.

VP Supplemental Pool #5: back at WH + gravesite background

VP pool broke off from her motorcade at 1:03pm as we pulled into the White House - we're told the VP is headed back to the Naval Observatory.

On our way out of the cemetery, we passed a man holding up a hand-written sign that read, "Thank you Kamala," along with many more onlookers.

OVP has promised to share when the Vice President made it back to her residence – lookout for one more note from me with that.
