VP pool report 7- Cheney remarks

The crowd of several hundred people consists of students, townspeople, and others who drove here from around the state. Many are standing on a hillside outside the fenced-in quad area.

Liz Cheney spoke of her personal history with Wisconsin - she was born in the state -- and is casting her first vote for president for Ronald Reagan.

"I was a Republican before Donald Trump began spray-tanning."

"I believe in limited government, I believe in low taxes, I believe in a strong national defense, and I believe that the private sector is the engine of growth of our economy," she said.

"I have never voted for a Democrat, but this year, I am proudly casting my vote for Kamala Harris."

She then went thru Trump's actions in the runup to and on Jan. 6, 2021. "Our republic faces a threat unlike any we have faced before," she said.

"I know that President Harris will be able to unite this nation. I know that she will be a president who will defend the rule of law. And I know that she will be a president who can inspire all of us... especially our little girls."

She then introduced Harris.

"We may not see eye to eye on every issue," she said of Liz Cheney, "and we're going to get back to a healthy two-party system... but we both love our country and democratic ideals."

Crowd broke into chants of "Kamala, Kamala... "
