Vp Pool #4 - Fundraiser Remarks

Pool was brought into the ballroom at 3:30 PM. It is a massive space, with vaulted ceilings and a huge crowd, some sitting and some standing. Massive Harris Walz signs flanked the stage, which was lined with American flags.

Harris took the stage to Freedom at 3:38 PM to loud applause. She finished her remarks at 4:03 PM and exited.

Here are some excerpts from her remarks.

"Let's level set. We have 44 days... And we say every four years this is the one. Well this year is the one. This is probably the most important election of our lifetime."

Says the election is about two "very different visions for our country." And notes that this was clear in her debate with Trump.

"By the way, I think we should have another debate," she added, noting she had accepted an invitation from CNN which "my opponent seems to be looking for an excuse to avoid when he should accept."

"I feel it very strongly that we owe it to the American people and the voters to meet once more before election day."

Said that in the debate Trump offered the "same old tired playbook." And "well, it's time to turn the page."

"As president I will fight on behalf of all Americans." Promises to build an "opportunity economy."

"We will encourage innovative technologies like AI and digital assets, while protecting our consumers and investors."

"We will create a stable business environment with consistent and transparent rules of the road. We will invest in semiconductors, clean energy and other industries of the future, and we will cut needless bureaucracy and unnecessary regulating, all of which will create jobs, drive quasi economic growth and cement America's leadership throughout the world."

Spoke about the woman who ran a child care center in her neighborhood growing up, calling the owner a "small business owner" and a "civic leader." Cited her plans to provide tax investments to new businesses.

She also cited her plans to increase housing and lower costs. "I grew up a middle class kid and I will never forget where I came from....we've got to bring down those costs."

Called Trump an "unserious man." But said the consequences of putting him back in the White House are "very serious."

Argued that Trump would reignite a recession and would repeal the ACA, saying it would "take us back to when insurance companies had the power to deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions.

Made a joke about being in "very big rooms with a lot of people."

"We are not going back." "Our fight is a fight for the future." "We're not fighting against something, we're fighting for something,"

"There is a full on attack" on "hard fought freedoms." Cites voting rights, gun violence, gay marriage. "I was one of the first electeds in the country... to perform same sex marriages... it pains my heart when i think about something like that and Florida and a don't say Gay law."

Stresses abortion rights. "Donald Trump hand selected three members of the United States Supreme Court ... with the intention they would overturn the protections of Roe v. Wade."

"One does not have to abandon their faith or deeply held beliefs to agree that the government should not be telling her what to do with her body."

"This is not 16 or 20. For many reasons ...This is a man who said he would be a dictator on day one... just imagine Donald Trump with no guardrails."

"This race is as close as it could be. This is a margin of error race. ... and I am running and we are running as the underdog."

"We are leaving it all on the field. And your support is absolutely critical to the work we have in front of us."

VP Pool #5 - Rolling

At 4:15 PM the VP's motorcade was rolling. We did not see her enter her car.

Also, here's the full quote on debates from the fundraiser:

"By the way, I think we should have another debate. I accepted an invitation to debate in October, which my opponent seems to be looking for an excuse to avoid when he should accept. In all seriousness, he should accept because I feel very strongly that we owe it to the American people, to the voters, to meet once more before Election Day."

VP Pool #7 - JBA, Gaggle

Air Force 2 was wheels down at Andrews Air Force Base at 5:53 PM. The VP exited the plane at 6:04 PM.

She spoke briefly to the pool. Some quotes below:

"I would like another debate."

She confirmed a speech on the economy this week. "I'm going to be giving a speech this week really to outline my vision for the economy."

She said she would talk about the opportunity economy.

"In short form it is about what we can do more to invest in the aspirations and ambitions of the American people while addressing the challenges that they face." She cited the prices of groceries and homeownership. Asked about the care economy she said she would touch on it.

And again on the debate: "Join me on the debate stage. There's more to talk about. Voters of America deserve to hear… what's your plan, what's my plan."

Harris was wheels up at 6:12 Pm.

A Harris campaign official told came back on the plane to tell the pool that the NYC fundraiser raised $27 million, making it the largest single event since Harris has been at the top of the ticket. The official said the campaign is grateful because they are gearing up to contend with outside super PAC spending from the Trump side.
