VP Travel Pool Report #4 -- Harris Remarks begin -- Pelosi/Day VP Harris took the stage at the San Francisco Palace of the Arts at 3:14 and began talking at 3:16. The event is a fundraiser. Prior to VP Harris taking the stage, the audience heard from speakers including, Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Lateefah Simon, who is running for California's 12th district. The pool was stationed in the hold room and their remarks were hard to hear. Andre Day came out and sang a couple of songs, including Rise Up. FYI -- your pooler has been told that we will need to bolt immediately after VP's remarks but I will try to get them to you ASAP. |

VP Travel Pool Report #5 -- Remarks End at 3:41 VP Harris concluded her remarks at 3:41 Pacific Time She spoke for about 25 minutes. Here are some select remarks/highlights "This is a margin of error race. We are the underdog. And I am running like the underdog because I am the underdog in this race." "The baton is now in our hands." VP Harris stood on stage behind a podium with the VPOTUS seal. There is a blue background behind here that says Harris Victory Fund. There are two large tv screens on both sides of the podium. VP Harris began by reminding that there are 38 days to the election. "This is probably the most important election of our lifetime and one of the most important elections in the lifetime of our nation. "This election is about two very different visions for our nation and we see that contrast on the campaign trail," she said, ticking off her trips to GA to talk about abortion, PA to talk about economy and AZ to talk about broder. She said with Trump we are seeing "the same tired playbook we've heard for years, with no plan on how he'd address the needs of the American people. That is why I'm convinced and the people across America do believe, it's time to turn the page." "America is ready for a new generation of leadership that is optimistic about what we can do together. And that is why I believe Democrats, Republicans and Independents are supporting our campaign -- because they want a president who works for all people." VP Harris repeated some of her remarks from the Economic Club of Pittsburgh earlier this week, talking about investing in emerging technology fields and factory towns. She talked about her support for expansion of the child tax credit. "I say these things to give you a few examples of a very different perspective we bring to what we can do -- building the future of America." "Donald Trump has a different plan and in many ways, he is an unserious man. He's an unserious man, however, the consequences of putting him back in the White House are extremely serious." She got thunderous and long applause when she referenced the debate. VP Harris said Trump "will threaten the health insurance of 45 million people based on a concept." An obvious reference to his "concept of a plan" comment during the debate. "The consequences are brutally serious," she said of Trump. She also repeated some of her remarks last week in Georgia about abortion bans, referring to the abortion restrictions in some states as "Trump abortion bans." Pledged to sign a bill restoring the protections of Roe v. Wade as president. "It is not 2016 and it is not 2020 for many reasons. The United States Supreme Court told the president that he would be effectively immune for anything he did in the White House." "At least there was some threat of accountability and consequence and now there is an explicit -- explicit -- direction that there would be no consequence. This is a man who said he would be a dictator on day one." "Just imagine Donald Trump with no guard rails. All of this is at stake and that is why we are here together. And we are here together because we love our country." |

You pooler did spot one older gentleman along Bush St emphatically giving the middle finger to the motorcade And a singer standing on 4th St with a microphone loudly sang, "Kamala Harris drives through" as the motorcade passed. |
