WHAT THEY ARE WATCHING IN THE STATES: Bidenomics Continues to Make Transformational Investments, Lower Costs for American Families, and Create Good, High-Paying Jobs

October 27, 2023

This week, Americans across the country heard first-hand from senior Biden-Harris Administrative officials about how President Biden's Investing in America Agenda is delivering good-paying jobs, affordable and reliable sources of clean energy, bolstering America's clean energy economy, and lowering costs for all Americans.

On Monday, President Biden and Secretary Gina Raimondo announced the release of over $500 Million for 31 Tech Hubs across the country. Bidenomics is helping grow and develop innovative industries in all regions of the country. From boosting biotechnology in Madison, Wisconsin and sustainable polymer manufacturing in Cleveland, OH, this Administration is committed to creating good-paying jobs across the nation.

Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo on WMC (NBC Memphis, TN) – 10/23

RAIMONDO: "There are great universities in every state in this country. There are great entrepreneurs, great research labs in every state in America. So, what we're saying is we're going to invest in these communities so that they can go from good to great, so they can go from very good to world class, and the people who live in those communities can work in those communities."

On Tuesday, the Biden-Harris Administration and the Department of Health and Human Services announced the allocation of $3.7 Billion for Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Home energy costs are an enormous part of a family's budget, and LIHEAP directly lowers costs for consumers.

White House Infrastructure Implementation Coordinator Mitch Landrieu on WTAE (ABC Pittsburgh, PA) – 10/24

LANDRIEU: "It's going to lower your home energy costs for families because it's going to they can help weatherize your house. It covers high energy bills that have been caused by natural disasters that, you know, we have far too many of them now. and essentially, it's just going to protect the health and safety of families."

On Wednesday, the Biden-Harris Administration announced next steps to bolster the stability and sustainability of the Colorado River System. Leveraging historic investments from President Biden's Investing in America agenda, the Administration will continue to partner with states and Tribes facing historic drought conditions and build a more sustainable and equitable future for communities across the West.

White House Climate Policy Adviser Ali Zaidi on KVVU (FOX Las Vegas, NV) – 10/25

ZAIDI: "There's no one single silver bullet technology to get all this done. Whether it's efficiency or sensors or improving catchment or it's deploying technologies like [desalination], we've got to do all of it. Over the long run, we have to build the infrastructure that's adapted to this new reality. We've got to invest in our farmers and in our ranchers so that they can be as productive as they want to be, but more efficient with their consumption of the resources that are finite."

On Thursday, a new report by the Bureau of Economic Analysis showed that the American economy grew at an annualized rate of 4.9% in the third quarter of 2023. Due to President Biden's Investing in America agenda and Bidenomics, the economy is growing from the middle out and the bottom up, not the top-down with nearly 14 million jobs created and record high wealth for American families.

Deputy Director of the National Economic Council Daniel Hornung on WTOC (CBS Savannah, GA) – 10/26

HORNUNG: "It's been a hard two years coming out of the pandemic, there is no question about that. But what we have seen is real progress on bringing inflation down. Inflation was above 9 percent, now it is well into the threes. That means breathing room for folks at the grocery store, at the gas stations, and we are seeing that the same time where we have one of the strongest job markets that we have ever had in this country."

On Friday, the October release of the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) Price Index emphasized that Bidenomics is working for American families. PCE inflation has fallen by more than 50% since last summer, and core inflation is now at its lowest level in more than 2 years.

Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers Jared Bernstein on WESH (NBC Orlando, FL) – 10/27

BERNSTEIN: "Well, we have an economy that's been growing really quite strongly in recent months. We learned that the overall measure of the economy, GDP, was up almost 5% in the third quarter. Unemployment's been below 4% for over a year and a half. And, in Florida, it's actually been a point lower than the national average - below 3%. We now have inflation easing and that means real wage gains. But look, those real wage gains are about 3 or 4 months old and it's going to take people a while before they feel better about an economy that is really cooking in the background there."
