White House Press Release - FAKE NEWS: Hoax Machine Keeps Running

February 04, 2025

The onslaught of Fake News is coming at record speed as legacy media finds itself unable to process the speed at which President Donald J. Trump is working for the American people.

Here is a small fraction of it from recent days:

  • HOAX: "Until today you could file your taxes FOR FREE. Trump just took that from you," Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) claimed.
  • FACT: That's an easily debunked lie — the official IRS Direct File website remains online and is accepting tax returns. It's such an egregious lie, even the Associated Press admits "the free filing program is still available."
  • HOAX: Holding government agencies such as USAID accountable for their spending "is what the beginning of a dictatorship looks like," Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) claimed — while Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) implied Secretary of State Marco Rubio was lying about the waste, fraud, and abuse within USAID.
  • FACT: Ending U.S. taxpayer funding of transgender comic books in Peru, DEI in Serbia, and transgender operas (whatever those are) in Colombia is not akin to a "dictatorship" — it's holding unelected bureaucrats accountable for their spending decisions.
  • HOAX: Multiple media outlets — including PBS, AP, NBC, and NPR — reported that "operatives" from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) "attempted to gain access to secure [government] spaces" — implying classified information was somehow at risk and being accessed without proper clearance.
  • FACT: White House Communications Director Steven Cheung confirmed the reports were "FAKE NEWS. Not even remotely true at all," while top DOGE advisor Katie Miller noted "no classified material was accessed without proper security clearances."
  • HOAX: DOGE "illegally installed a commercial server to control federal HR databases that contain sensitive personal information," some random wannabe journalist claimed — a conspiracy theory that quickly went viral.
  • FACT: Top DOGE advisor Katie Miller declared there is "nothing illegal and no server, just more made up tall tales from uninformed career bureaucrats who probably telework."
