The President today announced that he will nominate Janet Dempsey Steiger, of Oshkosh, Wis., to be a Commissioner of the Postal Rate Commission. She would replace Kieran O'Doherty, whose term is expiring.
Steiger has been vice president of The WorkPlace, Inc., a consulting firm servicing freelance professionals in Washington, since 1975. She has been a research associate of the National Academy for Public Administration since 1978.
Steiger was born June 10, 1939, in Oshkosh. She received a B.A. from Lawrence University in 1961. In 1965 she served as assistant to the legislative aide to the Governor of Wisconsin.
