Nomination of Robert P. McMillan To Be a Member of the Board of the Panama Canal Commission

The President today announced his intention to nominate Robert P. McMillan to be a member of the Board of the Panama Canal Commission. He would succeed Richard N. Holwill. [ See APP Note below. ]

Currently Mr. McMillan serves as a senior partner with the law firm of Rivkin, Radler, Dunne and Bayh in Uniondale, NY. Prior to this he served as director of public affairs and corporate vice president of Avon Products, Inc., for over 10 years. In addition, he is founder of the Long Island Housing Partnership, 1987 to present.

Mr. McMillan received his undergraduate degree from Adelphi University and graduated from Brooklyn Law School (J.D., 1960). Mr. McMillan was born May 21, 1932, in Queens, NY. He served in the U.S. Army, 1952 - 1954, and was awarded the Bronze Star while serving in Korea. Mr. McMillan is married, has three children, and resides in Garden City, NY.
