Press Release: President Bush Today Announced His Intention to Appoint Four Individuals to Serve in His Administration
President George W. Bush today announced his intention to appoint four individuals to serve in his administration.
The President intends to appoint Dr. Andrew von Eschenbach to be Director of the National Cancer Institute at the Department of Health and Human Services. Von Eschenbach is currently the Director of the Program Center for Genitourinary Cancers and the Director of the Prostate Cancer Research Center at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Additionally, he is the Special Assistant to the President of the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center for External Affairs, a Professor of Urology and Consulting Professor of Cancer Biology. Dr. von Eschenbach was has served as a Professor at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He has been a Member of the Board of Directors of the American Cancer Society since 1993, serving as Second Vice President, First Vice President. Dr. von Eschenbach is a graduate of St. Joseph's College and Georgetown University Medical School and a former member of the U.S. Navy.
The President intends to appoint the following three individuals to serves as Members of the Medal of Valor Review Board:
Kermit Steven Young of the Marion, Ohio, City Police Department to represent Law Enforcement
Edward Cardinal Egan of the Diocese of New York to represent Emergence Services
Thomas Kendall McEachin of the Prince George's County Fire and EMS Department to represent Firefighting.
