Statement by the Press Secretary: Republic of Korea President to Visit Washington

February 15, 2001

President Bush will welcome President Kim Dae-jung to Washington for a working visit March 7. The United States and the Republic of Korea are treaty allies. They share important security objectives on the Korean peninsula as well as a broad range of common interests in the Asia-Pacific region. The President looks forward to discussing Korean peninsula issues and to finding ways to strengthen the alliance and overall bilateral cooperation.
