President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate one individual to serve in his administration:
The President intends to nominate George H. Walker of Missouri, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Hungary. Currently, Mr. Walker serves as Chairman Emeritus of Stifel Financial Corporation and Stifel, Nicolaus & Company, Inc., where he previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Walker served as Chairman of Stifel, Nicolaus & Company, Inc. from 1982 to 2001 after he entered the Company as Executive Vice President in 1976. During the course of his career, he served on the Board of Midwest Stock Exchange, the Regional Firms Advisory Committee of the New York Stock Exchange and the Executive Committee of the Securities Industry Association. Mr. Walker earned his bachelor's degree from Yale University and his J.D. from Harvard Law School.
