Statement by the Press Secretary: President Bush to Welcome President Jakaya Kikwete of the United Republic of Tanzania
The President will welcome President Jakaya Kikwete of the United Republic of Tanzania to the White House on August 29, 2008, for a meeting and lunch. The visit will provide an opportunity for the President to discuss with President Kikwete the great progress being made in the fight against HIV/AIDS and Malaria in Tanzania. The President will use the opportunity to reiterate the United States' continued commitment to social, economic, and democratic progress in Tanzania. The two leaders will also discuss African regional issues, specifically the crisis in Zimbabwe, and Darfur.
