White House Statement: President Bush Welcomes World Leaders to the Summit on Financial Markets and the World Economy

This evening, President Bush welcomed leaders from the G20 nations along with the heads of key international organizations to the White House for a working dinner on the eve of the Summit on Financial Markets and the World Economy.

The leaders had a good, productive meeting. The Managing Director of the IMF, the President of the World Bank, the Chairman of the Financial Stability Forum, and the United Nations Secretary General discussed the steps their organizations are taking to address the global financial crisis.

The leaders look forward to meeting tomorrow to launch an effort to take concrete actions to protect the global financial system.
