Statement by the Press Secretary on H.R. 2650, H.R. 3370, H.R. 4076, S.J. Res. 32

On Friday, March 21, 2014, the President signed into law:

H.R. 2650, which authorizes the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa in Minnesota to convey certain land and interests in land owned by the Band;

H.R. 3370, the "Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act of 2014," which repeals requirements in current law that certain properties have their flood insurance risk premium rate adjusted or set under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) to accurately reflect that property's current risk of flood; reduces the maximum rate at which insurance premiums may be increased each year; and requires the NFIP to impose an annual surcharge on all newly issued or renewed flood insurance policies;

H.R. 4076, the "Home Heating Emergency Assistance Through Transportation Act of 2014" or the "HHEATT Act of 2014," which extends through May 31, 2014, emergency exemptions issued or extended since February 5, 2014, by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration providing regulatory relief for commercial motor vehicle operations directly supporting the delivery of home heating fuels unless the emergency has ended before that date; and

S.J. Res. 32, which reappoints John W. McCarter as a citizen regent of the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution.
