Readout of the President and Vice President's Meeting with Prime Minister Edi Rama of Albania
President Obama joined a meeting today between Vice President Biden and Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama. The President, Vice President, and Prime Minister emphasized the importance of Albania's partnership with the United States. The President and Vice President expressed appreciation for the critical role Albania plays in advancing regional security and reaffirmed the importance of keeping the door open to Euro-Atlantic integration for stability in the Balkans. The President and Vice President commended Albania for its leadership in promoting religious tolerance, Albania's important contributions to the international coalition against ISIL, and for the significant steps Albania has taken to counter terrorism and violent extremism. The President, Vice President, and Prime Minister also agreed on the importance of continued reforms in order to advance Albania's European integration.
