VP arrived at noon at the Hilton Americas-Houston to speak at the National Baptist Convention. Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis are among those in attendance.

VP began remarks at 12:32 pm at the National Baptist Convention and spoke for 23 minutes, urging people of faith to help lead the country through "unsettled times" and defend its democracy. More than 2,000 people were in attendance, according to event organizers. More speech highlights to follow.
