CHARLESTON, S.C. – Michigan's Governor Gretchen Whitmer is stealing a page from Joe Biden's soft-on-China playbook. Whitmer announced that a Chinese electric vehicle battery company, Gotion, will be building two 550,000 square-foot plants in northern Michigan. This week, Gotion announced it purchased 270 acres in Green Charter Township, Michigan located within 60 miles of military armories and within 100 miles from Camp Grayling, the largest U.S. National Guard training facility in the country.
Local citizens and national security experts have raised concerns about Gotion's ties to the Chinese Communist Party. The company's corporate bylaws require Gotion to "carry out Party activities in accordance with the Constitution of the Communist Party of China."
As liberals push Americans to give up gas-powered cars and switch to electric vehicles, they are making America increasingly dependent on China, which dominates the electric vehicle battery market.
Presidential candidate Nikki Haley called for stopping Chinese companies from buying U.S. land near military bases and taking back land tracts that have already been sold. She also called for rolling back Joe Biden's green energy agenda that makes America more dependent on China.
Gov. Whitmer continues to disregard local and national security concerns while boasting about her big Chinese get. Congratulations to Gov. Whitmer on being this week's Comrade of the Week!
